About the Founders:

Melissa and Wes Anderson, Founders of the Revolutionary Arts Foundation, Inc., have both been blessed to have numerous opportunities to work within their chosen artistic fields. Both are Professional Photographers and both have worked within the fashion industry producing private label clothing. Being parents of an artistically gifted daughter, both Melissa and Wes have a strong interest in this and future generations of Artists.

Melissa and Wes Anderson have created this Arts organization for various reasons. The first and foremost reason is because they have recognized their daughters lack of Art programs, supplies, and materials at the public elementary school level at the schools she has attended in three different states (California, Wisconsin, & Florida). Secondly, they recognized that the Art budgets being cut in the public schools is not new, but in fact they have been consistently cut the past few decades, at all levels of our public education system.

Recognizing the need for Art materials, supplies, and funds for our public schools isn’t particularly difficult. The action required to fix the problem is beyond any few peoples ability. Instead, it’s going to take an army of like minded Revolutionaries. It’s going to take a Revolution in thought about what Art is, how it is financed, and how it effects all of us in a real way, everyday of our lives. It also takes a shift in thinking about who is responsibility for the Arts and Artist’s.

It’s important to understand that we advocate financing the Arts through individuals, not the government. We do not solicit or accept government aid (financial or otherwise) in any manner, nor do we ask for or accept monetary donations from any special interest organizations or individuals. Instead, we raise money through logo merchandise sales, event ticket sales, and the sale of donated Art.

Knowing the reasons for creating a Arts foundation and the action required to make it successful, Melissa and Wes developed the Mission of the Revolutionary Arts Foundation, Inc. The Mission is “Fighting for and Funding Aspiring Student Artists”. This Mission is a call to action, a call for a non-violent Revolution in the way we view Art, and a call for Revolutionaries to get involved and fight in their communities to fund Aspiring Student Artists.
